…Edo govt gives all mortuary operators till Sept 30 for registration The Edo State Police Command has intensified investigation to unravel the true situation of the alleged discovery of ritualists’ den along Ekenwan Road axis of Benin City, with the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Investigations, Olawore Oluwole, revealing that the morgue operator, Gabriel Chukwu Otu was not a certified mortician. DCP Oluwole, while speaking at a press conference organised by the Edo State Government and the State Police Command, to provide an update on the latest development on the alleged ritual activities in the state, said 10 suspects have so far been arrested and interrogated. He noted that during the investigation, the police interfaced with medical personnel, lawyers, members of the public, representatives of Benin Traditional Council (BTC), families of those who deposited corpses and pathologists. The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has inaugurated a Special Police unit to check activities of land grabbers in the state. Addressing journalists after inspecting a guard of honor by the Special Police Squad, in Benin City, the governor said the squad will work with the state government and Edo State Police Command to check the activities of land grabbers. “You may recall that we have lingering issues of land grabbing in Edo State. Obaseki mourns passing of Enogie of Obazuwa, HRH Edun Akenzua

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has mourned the passing of His Royal Highness (HRH), Enogie Edun Agharese Akenzua, the Enogie of Obazuwa-Iko, who passed at the age of 87 years. In a statement, the governor said, “A royalty per excellence, Enogie Akenzua was an inimitable blue-blood, filled with wisdom, wit and courage. The Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC), pursuant to section 21 of Edo State Local Government Electoral Law and the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission Establishment (Re-enactment) (Amendment 1) Law 2022, has released the timetable for the local government elections. The council polls have been fixed for Saturday, January 14, 2023 In a statement, signed by Emmanuel Abebe, on behalf of the Chairman of EDSIEC, the Commission said, “pursuant to section 21 of Edo State Local Government Electoral Law and the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission Establishment (Re-enactment) (Amendment 1) Law 2022, notice of Election is hereby given as follows: that election into the offices of the Chairmen and councilors for the 18 Local Government Councils in Edo State shall be held on Saturday, 14th January, 2023.” The electoral body said “all the registered political parties are required to collect nomination forms on behalf of their candidates at the Edo State Independent Ele

Breaking News : Edo Assembly passes local government and EDSIEC amendment bill*

The  State House of Assembly has passed the Edo State local government electoral law and Edo State Independent Electoral Commission Establishment Re-enactment Amendment 1 Law 2022, known as the Principal Law. Earlier, the majority leader, and member representing Ikpoba Okha constituency, Rt.Hon. Henry Okhuarobo in his  application called for the suspension of some House rules  and  resolve  into the committee of the whole. The Speaker, Rt Hon Amb Marcus Onobun  harped on the importance of the law, stressing that the  amendment is a needed impetus in strengthening the local government system as well as deepening our democracy. The Speaker thereafter directed the clerk of the house to forward clean copies of the resolution to relevant authorities for assent. Meanwhile, the consideration of the Bill for a Law to repeal the Edo State development and property agency law 2018 was  deferred to a later date for proper deliberation. By Comr Ozimah Joseph Odemokpa  What they have failed to understand when Peter Obi left APGA to PDP for his personal interest they shouted that APGA has finished in Anambra State, that they won't survive without Peter Obi's presence till he left PDP.  The man could not win Anambra State for PDP yet APGA remains unshakeable in the state without him. Now Obi has left PDP for Labour Party for his selfish interests, they have started shouting that PDP is gone in Nigeria even when campaign is yet to begin, to the extent of tagging him as the messiah to safe Nigeria just the way and manner Nigerians were deceived over Buhari who is now eager to go back home in Daura, Katsina state  after he has plunged Nigeria into unprecedented hardship and insecurity.  PDP will remain unshakable without PDP Obi's presence and PDP/Atiku will come victorious come 2023.  Question begging for answers; What makes you think that Peter Obi who could not win Anambra State for PDP for two consecutive ti
