IN CONTINIUATION TO MAKE EDO GREAT, HON, LADY UWA OSUNBOR SPECIAL ADVISER ON POLITICAL AND THE EDO STATE OIL PALM PROGRAMME SENSITIZATION TEAM HELD COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT WITH URHOMEHE AND URHONIGBE COMMUNITIES IN ORHIONMWON LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

In continuation to make Edo State great, the Edo State Oil Palm Programme (ESOPP) Sensitization Team held community interaction with the good people of Urhomehe and Urhonigbe communities in Orhionmwon Local government area, on Monday, 15th March, 2022, to discuss proposed plans and developmental projects that the state government is  bringing to all project communities in the Local Government.

Hon, Lady Uwa Osunbor, Special Adviser On Political matters to the Governor, Edo South, who represented the Governor lead the team and informed the good people of Urhomehe and Urhonigbe Communities on the proposed plans and developmental projects the Edo State Government is about to bring into the environment. She said government in partnership with the private sector will make use of some portions of the degraded part of the forest reserve bordering some communities, so there is need for the people to be properly informed before the project would be carried out.

She enlightened the people of the advantages and benefits that the state government's project is bringing, while making use of some portions of the forest reserve. She said the project will create job opportunities for Youths in the entire Local government and it will increase sales for the farmers and traders in the communities and Edo State at large. She asked the people to collaborate with the State Government to ensure the proposed projects all come to reality as planned. She further advised the elders and women in Urhomehe and Urhonigbe community to talk to the youths to know the importance of development in an atmosphere of peace. She sighted the past developmental project Governor Godwin Obaseki brought during his first tenure, such as the Modular Refinery and infrastructural development.

The the good people of Urhomehe Community agreed and spoke in one voice say the development is highly welcome to their land, since their are much to benefit from the state government and the investors if fulfilled as planned by the state Government.

Hon, Lady Uwa Osunbor, thank and appreciate the good people of Urhomehe for for the great honour given to them for accepting the request.

The good people of Orhonigbe, rejected the offer say they have no forest reserved for and developmental projects, that all reserved land belongs to the Orhonigbe community. Further Said that those looking for land should come directly to the good people Orhonigbe not through government.

Hon, Lady Uwa Osunbor, Special Adviser On Political matters, did everything to persuade them by telling them more details of the advantage and disadvantages in order for them to yield for the request, yet all efforts prove abortive.
