GOVERNOR OBASEKI'S BOLD EFFORTS TOWARDS CURBING THE MENACE OF BEDC BLACK OUT ON EDO STATE AND ITS CITIZENS

Checkmating Funke Osibodu's Boastfulness and arrogance.

EDO citizens will live to remember the name "Funke Osibodu" not for anything good but for her wickedness on the citizens of Edo State.

We could recall the series of protest against the management of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) by the members of Edo Civil Society Organization (EDOSCO) some time last year 2019.

We could see how some group of persons sat on the well-being of the vast majority of Edo State citizens just to satisfy their greed.

The protest against BEDC was to remove the Managing Director  BEDC on the reason being that Edo citizens have for years been oppressed with light.

In a statement released by EDOSCO in January 2019 states: “For over four years running, Edo, Delta, Ondo and Ekiti states residents have been groaning under the poor and oppressive services of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), without steps to address same.

This was one of the statements released after various complaints even by the Edo State citizens.
We could recall how the Governor out of anger on the BEDC management asked  Funke herself to leave his office when she came to see him stating that until she's able to give EDO State citizens light then she can come see him, which fell on deaf ears. Funke became even more arrogant to the governor.

Looking at Funke's arrogance we were able to investigate and saw that she had the backing of some persons to continue her wickedness on the people.

The Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) headed by an Edo man; Alex Okoh was a major influence on BEDC being that he plays dual role as the D-G of BPE and a Director in the management board of BEDC which according to a statement suggests he collects all sorts of allowances and undisclosed personal aggrandizement yet cannot protect the interest of the Federal Government and the people.

Also, it was alleged that some members of the Edo State House of Assembly get allowances from BEDC and millions are used to service these men including the ex-governor in person of Adams Oshiomole.

These were the major reasons why  Governor Obaseki in his wisdom signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU)  with the private sector for an Independent Power Plant (IPP).

The 55MW CCETC-Ossiomo Power Plant which is set to be expanded to a 550MW capacity gas power plant is termed to be THE UNIMAGINABLE.

The citizens of Edo State least expected this reason being that  it is not common in Nigeria to see a state government establish an alternative to the usual power supply already known to us.

With this singular action taken by the "Wake and See" governor;  one could boldly say that Governor Godwin Obaseki is a man with the Edo people at heart.

The Ossiomo power plant is still undergoing completion towards the proposed expansion from a 55MW to a 550MW and it's first phase will be completed by 2021. So,  it is only logical and wise to allow the Governor continue his good works and majorly to complete this project and more before leaving office.

We know that efforts are on ground to stop these projects by the Governor from completion.

So, EDO people from all walks of Life,
Say No To abandoned projects.
Say Yes To Light.
