President Muhammad Buhari, has been called upon to play the role as father of the Nation in the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in Edo and Ondo States. This call was made in Benin City by the former Publicity Secretary PDP Edo State and immediate past member of the South South PDP Executive committee, Prince Dr Francis Omo-Osunde Iyasere, while reacting to the marching orders given to APC governors by President Buhari that they must not allow the opposition to take Edo State from the APC. This call, according to Prince Iyasere is pregnant with diabolical intentions which could be misused by desperate politicians to cause unnecessary tension and possible violence during the election in Edo State this September. The people's Democratic Party will not close it's eyes to a sinister ploy by a group of desperate politicians to mar or hijack the process leading to a very credible election which Edo People expect to utter the ugly environment that they find themselves today. He call on the law enforcement agencies to up to their responsibilities in the discharge of their duty because their loyalty should be to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Nigerians and not to any person or group of persons. He call on the youths to be prepared to take their destiny in their own hands and pursue actions that will bring back dignity and put legitimate food on their tables. Prince Iyasere posited that if the election is conducted in a peaceful environment and without manipulation, PDP and Mr Godwin Obaseki will win the election convincingly. He charged voters to be ready to defend their votes and to ensure that their votes were counted. He congratulated Godwin Obaseki on his victory at delegates election and advise him to carry everyone along in his quest to liberate Edo State from the stronghold of the godfathers and put the State on the path of greatness. Prince Iyasere commended all the aspirants particularly Rt Hon Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama for sacrifices he made in putting the party on the pedestal of greatness and pray that God will replenish his pocket for all he did for the Party in the last Congress and even before.
