The Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP in Edo State, read with concern a press release credited to the State Chairman of APC, Col Imuse , calling for the declaration of a state of emergency in Edo state. The call is not only undemocratic, it is treacherous, full of bile and must be condemned by all. This statement leaves us with no other option but to question the democratic credentials of Col Imuse who incidentally is a retired military officer. In the not so distant past, we were made to understand that Colonels in the Nigeria Army  were very influential in the planning and execution of coups! PREAMBLE  Critical stakeholders of the PDP in Akoko-Edo with members of the excos in all the wards met on the 28th December 2021. Those present included the National Leader Akoko-Edo PDP, the Senatorial Leader Edo North, and the LGA Chairman, former and present women leaders, ward chairmen and selected excos, and invited members of the party. In all 31 members of the party across the LGA attended the meeting. Several issues were presented and deliberated upon.   Gov. Godwin Obaseki of Edo on Tuesday in Benin said that he has no regrets whatsoever in forgiving Tony Adun, the All Progressives Congress (APC) youth leader in the state. A suspected ‘Yahoo Boy’ identified as Osa Osaretine is currently on the run after his girlfriend, Elohor Nancy Williams, was found dead in his residence at Egor in Edo State. The suspect who recently returned to Nigeria from Ghana, had on Friday, December 24, invited his girlfriend to his residence. It is reported that when relatives couldn’t reach the victim via phone, they decided to launch a search for her. “They got to his apartment and found it locked. They broke into it and found Nancy in a pool of her own blood. Some parts of her body had been harvested. Osaretine is nowhere to be found at the moment. We urge the appropriate authorities to assist Nancy’s relatives with meting out justice. They’re heartbroken at the moment as a result of the tragic incident,” a source said.

NEWS:  *Police Arrest Fleeing Housemaid over alleged murder of former Governor Lucky Igbinedion's mother* Edo State Police Command has arrested a housemaid, Dominion Okoro in connection with the 'murder' of Madam Maria Oredola Igbinedion, mother of a former Governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Igbinedion. The 85-year-old woman was allegedly strangled by the suspect at her residence in Ugbor, GRA, Benin-City, the State capital. It was further learnt that the maid who hailed from Cross River state, ransacked the deceased's home for her jewelries and money, and carted them all away after she allegedly killed her. According crime correspondent Festus Alenkhe, the suspect was arrested on Tuesday December 15, 2021 in Calabar, the capital of Cross River state, by a combined tactical team of the Nigerian Police. She is currently being held at the Edo State Police headquarters in Benin City
